mgsPodcast hits the headlines

Have you seen or heard the mgsPodcast on the news recently?

We featured on last Friday night's Arts Show on BBC Radio Scotland - a NINE minute special featuring Hassan, Amy, Alison and Nicole. It showed people how to podcast as well as featuring some original backing music by Jamie L, or Beatmaster J as he is now known!

We have also featured in the past month in the Times Educational Supplement, the Sunday Express (double-page spread) and are going to perhaps feature in the Guardian and on the TV. Watch this space.

Well done to all the pupil bloggers and podcasters at MGS.

The art of Pod

Well, there is a definite delay in getting out the third mgsPodcast, but all for good reason! This last ten days the team has tripled in size and so we've all been learning how to script, record, cut, edit and publish podcasts. The next show will be released this weekend hopefully, with some final cutting together by Mr McIntosh, but all the elements are there.

The fourth mgsPodcast will probably be the last one before summer, and will include nearly live recordings from the Gig on the Grass at the end of term.

Sorry again for the delay, but that's showbusiness. The show WILL go on!

New podcast coming soon...

Sorry to be taking so long to get the next Podcast live. It should have been cast this weekend but various events have been taking place in and around school that have taken up our time. The next podcast will be a bumper edition, including a Primary 7 guide to the school. It should be up around the middle of next week.

Good to see nearly 800 people are now subscribing to the show. We'll reward you for your fidelity to our show with a great podcast before the summer holidays.

Great story in today's Sunday Express about the world of the Podcast in schools. Above all, 17 paragraphs about how well MGS are doing in being Europe's first pocasting school. Well done to the girls who starred in the paper's photo. You've done us proud!

mgsPodcast - First Pilot Edition

Finally, we think we've cracked it. So here is the pilot edition of mgsPodcast. It would appear that mgsPodcast is not just a first for the UK, in terms of being the first schools podcast, but it is also the first of its type in Europe.

There are two qualities of feed. If dial-up users need one that is even smaller let us know by leaving a comment.

RSS: Really Simple Syndication: Not true, not true!

Well, the broadcast is more or less ready except for one thing: getting the RSS feed with enclosures sorted out. The one defining factor of the Podcast is proving less than 'Really Simple'. If you have any tips please help us out on [email protected].

I'm sure colleagues around Scotland (especially in the West, Mark ;-)) will be able to rally around and help a good cause to help launch the Podcast this weekend, a little later than expected.

Thursday 5th: mgsPodcast launch

While the PM parties in Number 10 we will expect you all to tune into the first UK Schools podcast from MGS, due for definite launch tomorrow night. It's almost complete, cut and mixed. Let us know your reactions.

Well, the clock has beaten us today and, although the first part of the Podcast is ready, we will be waiting till later in the week to add more pupil content on, including our already famous agony aunt.

Sorry for all the delays, peeps, but that's what you get when you're trying something new...

mgsPodcast Polish Special - May 2, 2005

Welcome to the first every Podcast from a UK School, indeed, quite possible the first in Europe. It is quite suitable, therefore, that this Podcast comes from both Scotland and one of Europe's newest members, Poland. Teacher Mr McIntosh talks to Polish pupils about what it's like to be part of the European Union.
