Hi there!
We are Carolyn and Philip and we work for the BBC. We are coming to Zespol Szkol Katholickich on Thursday and Friday this week along with Mr McIntosh from Musselburgh Grammar School. We are really looking forward to meeting you all!
We're working on a project creating 'focus studies' about different places in the world for pupils in the UK studying geography. We want students in the UK to really understand a lot about living in Poland. We hope that you will be able to help us create these focus studies.
We are looking to find out what you think about the place you live in, what your country means to you and we’re really interested to find out about life in Poland now you have joined the EU. We want to know what 'borders' mean to you. Sometimes we have 'borders' that are more local - like those of cities, towns and villages. And the way we feel about our identity is sometimes influenced by these limits. Are we country, city or town people? How do we identify with the place we live in? Now that the borders of your country are defined by being European you are part of a bigger community, made up of many countries all dependent on each other and joined by common processes and laws. How will this change the way we live now and in the future? What would you like to tell about your lives to your new neighbours? These are just some of the things we want to talk about. What we are hoping is that some of you will be our 'reporters' and help us to make some short films, video diaries, radio features and interviews for a multimedia package created around your experiences of Poland.
If you have any more questions please ask your teacher to give you any information. Remember we don’t know anything about Poland, so please come in with lots of ideas of places and things you think we should think about.
Cheers for now
Carolyn and Philip
